![]() This occurred at 35000 miles so it was fully covered by warranty. It turned out that the onboard Transmission Control Unit had malfunctioned and had to be replaced. At the dealership it took the mechanics a few minutes to figure out how to kill the engine from under the hood. The vehicle was fully drivable but being unable to turn off or shift the vehicle was unnerving. Fortunately I found a place to turn around where I didn't need Reverse and drove to the dealership in Coos Bay, Oregon. I was over 50 miles from the nearest Jeep dealership. I was in Drive and was unable to shift (no Park, no Reverse, no Neutral, only Drive was operating) and therefore unable to turn off the ignition. I got a dash message that 4WD had failed. "The transmission computer malfunctioned during operation. Transmission was replaced because of delays in downshifting discovered by the mechanic at the dealership." ![]() "The transmission would not shift from low to a higher gear. "variable to very slow transition between forward and reverse variable to slow downshift to lower gear when stopped" It seems to be more noticeable when Eco mode is enabled. This happens when the vehicle is warm and hot. Shifting from 1st to 2nd is rough and when downshifting from 3rd to 2nd. "My Jeep has the automatic 8 speed transmission. "Sunroof fails to close properly at speeds above 55 miles an hour" "It's just noisy-not quiet-during the ride." Noise is expected in a truck/suv however in the Grand Cherokee it is very obvious." "There is considerable road/wind noise when driving the vehicle. "Non-locatable rattle in center of dashboard somewhere in the area of the information screen (i believe)" "The driver's side rear door has a minor rattle which can especially be heard when closing the door from the exterior." "Over major potholes the headrest for the passenger makes an annoying screech. "rattle coming from under passenger front seat and center console. Also metal slider strips in cargo area are rusty." In rear view mirror, headrests, dash, cargo compartment. (2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 3.6-L V6) (2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude 3.6-L V6) "Rattling noise from passenger side of vehicle." (2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 5.7-L V8) "Mysterious sounds from inside the cabin." These are very loud and can be heard inside the vehicle as well as on the street at speeds from 5 mph to approx 50 mph." "I had brought the jeep to the dealership over 5 times for noises coming from the front driver side suspension that happen when traveling over rough surfaces and uneven roads between 55 degrees and 80 degrees. Because of this, we will not keep this vehicle when the lease matures in April 2020." The dealership could not fix this after three attempts. ![]() "There is a known problem with rattles in the headliner area where the cover for the glass roof retracts. (2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 3.6-L V6) "Mouse got in moon roof and chewed window washer hose" (2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 3.6-L V6)
